Legal
Terms of Use
In short. Lumi helps you block distracting apps and read more. It's a paid subscription billed through Apple. Use it responsibly, don't misuse it, and understand that it's a focus tool — not medical or professional advice. By using Lumi you agree to these terms.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Lumi (“Lumi,” “we,” “us”) governing your use of the Lumi iOS application and the website at ilummi.app (together, the “Service”). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use Lumi. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Lumi only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
3. The Service
Lumi lets you block selected apps on a schedule using Apple's Screen Time features, set a weekly screen-time goal, and read books in a built-in reader as an alternative to scrolling. Features may change, improve, or be discontinued over time. Lumi's blocking depends on Apple's Screen Time frameworks functioning on your device; we do not guarantee that blocking will be uninterrupted or impossible to circumvent.
4. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
Lumi is offered as an auto-renewing subscription (for example, monthly or annual plans). The current price and billing period are shown in the app before you purchase.
- Payment. Purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We do not receive or store your payment-card details.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Managing & cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your device's Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current period.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms; we generally cannot issue refunds directly.
- Free trials / offers. If a trial or introductory offer is provided, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
Your use of the App Store is also governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), which applies to the Lumi app in addition to these Terms.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, except where permitted by law;
- interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on the Service or its infrastructure;
- use the Service to infringe others' rights or violate any law;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.
6. Books and third-party content
Books available in Lumi's reader are primarily public-domain works (such as titles from Project Gutenberg) or content we are otherwise permitted to provide. Such content is offered “as is.” Third-party content remains the property of its respective owners and may be subject to its own terms.
7. Not professional advice
Lumi is a productivity and focus tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, psychological, or other professional advice. If you have concerns about screen use, compulsive behavior, or mental health, consult a qualified professional.
8. Intellectual property
The Lumi app, website, name, logo (the Lumi flame), and design are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fully effective at blocking or reducing your screen time.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lumi and its suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
11. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes to these Terms, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and may provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete the app at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to comply with the law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where local consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
